I have a very bad feeling about WI tonight…I’ve been a very naughty weightwatcher, especially after such an amazing week last week. I’m fully expecting to put back on the 4lbs I lost. Bugger.
Well actually, 50,032! I really would like to say thank you to everybody who comes here and reads my blog – regularly or just as a one-off, I really do appreciate the fact that my life is interesting enough for people to follow!!!!
…can’t think of a title! I just wanted to post to admit that I haven’t pointed this weekend but haven’t been that bad in the process. Mum and dad have been visiting and it always gets harder when mum is here as she is gluten and lactose intolerant – you have to be quite creative in making sure there is food around that she can eat but that is still semi-healthy.
I had a rehearsal with my choir quartet today – we are doing For Good/Defying Gravity from Wicked in our May concert in Whitchurch (see www.cityvoicescardiff.com) for more info and we have also been give Hallelujah to learn which sounds wonderful. We are hoping to get some new arrangements before too long but I won’t jinx it and tell you just in case they don’t happen. We recorded both of the pieces today on Nic’s fancy microphone gizmo so I might even share with you at some point (if I can – I’ll of course have to get permission) from the other girls!! Anyway, I love singing, especially in the quartet and its a great thing to do on a Sunday afternoon!
I was good at the Indian restaurant…I had half a portion of each of the following for a total of 18 points:
Mushroom bahjee
Chicken tikka
Tandoori chicken
Garlic naan
Boiled rice
1.5 poppadoms
Compulsory portion of Indian salad
It was very filling and I am pleased with myself. By the time I got there I had about 2 points left for the day (ahem) so at least I didn’t have my usual selection which would have been 38 points easily!!!
(Stole my title from Imogen!)
This week I lost not one pound…
Not two pounds…
Not three pounds…..
But FOUR POUNDS!!
I am very pleased with myself. I’m going to enjoy my curry tonight and then go onto 24 points each day (adding 3 out of 6 maintenance points).
Hooray!!!! Going back to basics was very worth it!! Last time I was at this weight or lower was 16th December so I’m rather happy.
I’m nervous about 3 things:
1. My poster presentation this afternoon; I’ve got to leave in half an hour and I’m not sure what to expect.
2. Weigh in. I’m probably worrying about nothing but I’ve had a fairly big lunch and hope it doesn’t impact on tonight.
3. Curry tonight – I have the grand total of 4.5 points to spend. Looks like that isn’t going to work out well!!!
Sabotaged at 6pm by a kitkat (taken off tomorrow’s points) and 2 cheese straws…my resolve failed me. The cheese straws were reasoned as being ok seeing as they were from our valentines meal with friends and therefore we should have eaten them then and the calories were therefore backdated. Just as well I got exercise points yesterday!!! Surely it won’t have made much difference…you’ve gotta live!!
Choir was fab.
6 days on track and only 2 points over. After WI tomorrow we are going out for curry for Lorraine’s birthday and I’m really looking forward to it! Haven’t got a clue what I’ll eat as it is a toss up between tracking tomorrow and just tracking up until WI and then having my Wednesday night treat. What worries me is the fact that the chicken korma that I normally have is 22 points which is over my daily allowance for tomorrow (19)!!! Either I find some alternatives fast or I just enjoy myself. At least I don’t drink so that won’t be a problem.
Poster presentation at university tomorrow to get my educator accreditation – not looking forward to it!!
Choir tonight and must stay away from chocolate temptation from my friends!!
I REALLY hope that the scales show a loss tomorrow. This week has been hard work but in a strange way I have enjoyed the challenge.
Happy St David’s Day (I have to say that, being honorary Welsh)!!

I’ve had a day off work today as basically I’ve worked too many hours over the past month and had some owed to me (all to do with taking on an occupational therapy student).
Anyway – first I dropped Ben to the station and then did a load of washing, went to aqua aerobics (which was like an OAP get together with about 30 women and 2 men there), came home and mucked around a bit on the internet, went out and met Lowri at Ikea (shopping list from dad who lives in Cornwall and is nowhere near an Ikea and also a need for some Daim Cake), went to the cinema with Lowri to see The Lovely Bones, went to my platelet donation clinic (scales read 74.8kg with shoes on which would mean I have lost 3-4lb from last Wednesday – of course they probably aren’t accurate with the WW scales) and then came home to tea cooked by Ben! So, all in all, I’ve been rather busy today!
I avoided meatballs at Ikea (and fizzy drink) and I avoided Ben and Jerry’s at the cinema – I was VERY tempted but am pleased with myself.
I’ve had 18.5 out of 19 points today and might treat myself to a little of my La Torta Verde in a bit as a pre-bedtime snack.
Now watching Glee with Ben.
Good news yesterday is that Ben’s brother’s partner is expecting another baby so we are going to be made aunt and uncle for a second time around – they have been out in New York for a couple of years but are coming back to the UK in April for good. We haven’t seen Tom (our first nephew) since he was about 4 months old so the change from that to 2-and-a-bit year old is going to be quite cool!!
Ok, I’m surviving…just. I’m on 15.5 points today as I was 5.5 over yesterday. Surprisingly I’ve managed to fit well into my points today and am not hungry at the moment. Things may change but even being a couple of points over today will be better than yesterday. I know you aren’t meant to save more than 4 a day or go under 16 in a day but never mind. Resisted welsh cakes, cheese straws, cadbury’s with crunchie and celebrations whilst at choir so am pretty pleased with myself.
2 days on track. This is going well so far. Ok, actually I’m over by 2.5 points today but its fine, I can claw that back no problem. I’m back to paper based tracking this week as I wonder if the iPhone was making me nonchalant?
Oh dear. The time has come for a motivational kick up the arse. For god’s sake, why am I back at 12 stone again????? I don’t want to be here and don’t need to be here so this is the time for action. I do seem to say this quite frequently and then get bored and become naughty during the week. This week I need to try. I need to do this for me and if the magazine says I’m 11 stone 8 then I don’t want to in reality be 6lbs over that. So, going to try, harder than normal, to get back to where I’m happy which is in the mid 11s (I’m not only doing it because of the magazine).
Speech over.
That was fun!! Slightly different to my Fabulous photoshoot and more personal. The difference is that Ben wasn’t with me so you’ll all have to wait for the mag to be published before you see my shots. I’m not totally sure I liked the clothes they gave me to wear but they decided it was very “Sex and the City” and they were very relieved that I had my laptop with me as the article and shoot are very much based on blogging. Apparently I am very photogenic and have a fantastic, natural smile! So, it should be in the June issue they think but not definte yet. I’m now sat on the train waiting to leave Paddington and feel like I look way too glam. I saw Alice (Kasper) for about three minutes before she ran off for her train and she looked brilliant. Have got two Krispy Kremes for Ben and I as contemplated earlier in the week. Have just taken a self portrait so here is a mini preview…
Today is the day I’ve been waiting for for a very long time!! I am excited and nervous at the same time. Should get to London just after lunch – I’ve got everything packed and ready to go!!! Will keep you updated.
So, since discovering Geocaching Ben and I have been outdoors a lot more – in fact, we’ve found 7 geocaches over the past week. We have been getting quite muddy so today was the day for the purchase of gaitors. We got them quite cheaply and only having purchased them realised mine were “junior” sized (I liked the colour). Anyway, they fit and its not a problem!
I haven’t been clocking up distance walked but it makes me think that maybe I should get a WW pedometer after all…if I were to track using the app on my iPhone I wouldn’t be able to use the navigation on it at the same time. Thing is that they are a bit pricey!
